lecture- visual literacy

Pictures can be read
Symbols - how the same symbol can mean different things 
Changing the colour etc can be associated with something else 
Historical set of signs and symbols that stay recognised
Being visual literate requires an awareness of visual syntax and semantics 
What we associate things with - the connotation 
Constructing an image is important - layout/ lit creates a expressive response - the example of eggs with breakfast 

Complex system - the example of crossing signs etc
