Study task 3 - Parody- pastiche postmodernism

parody- a version of something, most used in comedy
an imitation of the style of a particular writer, artist or genre with deliberate exaggeration for comic effect
pastiche - taking recognisable elements, doesn't have much content or purpose most often
an artistic work in a style that imitates that of another work, artist, or period.
borrowing the styles...

intertextuality- referencing different elements - the shaping of a text's meaning by another text. An example of intertextuality is an artist referencing to the work of others/film/media/broader cultural signifiers.

appripoation - taking something for the aesthetic purposes

Jameson's definition of a parody and pastiche: 'Parody has, in the postmodern age, been replaced by pastiche: 'Pastiche is, like parody, the imitation of a peculiar or unique, idiosyncratic style, the wearing of a linguistic mask, speech in a dead language.'
