Group crit - research - Rationale - Initial ideas

The question - to what extent is using kawaii characters more effective than not in advertising

the question was changed to How can brands use cute characters to effectively appeal to a wide audience?

feedback and suggestions :

Japanese is a reference or example
a serious matter and design it in a cute way
un canny valley - the graph that states how close something is from not being cute
swapping faces - Star Wars
2012 olympic mascots

a brand that doesn't have a mascot - give it or one that does and take it away
adult/serious businesses
use the uk examples but also mention the Japanese



adding a mascot to an existing brand
a boring brand or product etc lightbulbs or batteries
giving a basic brand an identity

lightbulb companies - eco light / osram
